If you’re buying or selling a home, you’ll need a realtor, but finding one you like can be challenging. Whether you’re looking for realtors in Terre Haute or anywhere else, here are four tips to help you choose an agent you’ll love working with.
1) Research their credentials and listings
Before choosing a realtor, research their credentials and specialties to make sure they’ll meet your specific needs. Also look up their current listings on the agency’s website or on searchable real estate databases to gauge their proficiency and availability. A professional award or two won’t hurt, either!
2) Look up their history and experience in real estate
You’ll want an agent who’s been in real estate for at least five years. Your state’s regulatory body can also tell you if any complaints have been filed against a realtor you’re considering.
3) Talk to their past clients
If you really want to know how a realtor is to work with, ask the people they’ve worked with before! An agent should be able to provide their past listings with contact information.
Find out how much past clients’ homes sold for and how long those homes were on the market. If your needs are similar, the realtor may be a good fit for you too.
4) Question their knowledge about the area
A good realtor will be highly knowledgeable about the area they work in. Ask your agent questions about other properties in the neighborhood, including any that are currently for sale or have recently sold. If they’re on top of the market and can answer every question, you’ll know you picked a winner!
